In a satirical onslaught of life as we know it, James reaches into the heart of what it is to be human. Writing what most of us would only dare to think, Running at the Speed of Life is both humorous and humbling.

Laura Fluke Seeker, singer and survivor.

Life often presents us with many challenges. Laura has experienced more than most. Born and raised in a suburb of Detroit, she questioned where she belonged early in life. Struggling for years with identity confusion, dissociation, self-injurious behavior, and suicidal depression, she was eventually diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD).

Now a devout Christian and ordained minister, Laura intimately describes her journey from childhood innocence to depths of despair to divine exaltation. She says, “I prayed for God to mold me and make me into the person He wanted me to be. I never realized He would take this request so seriously.“

She details encounters with Christian counselors as she sought desperately to be healed from the darkness of her mental illness and, all the more, her emotional wounds. In a situation that seemed so many times to be hopeless, Laura learned the value of perseverance in seeking God’s Will.

Laura is married and has two children. And despite her struggles, she and her family have shown hospitality to 9 short-term and long-term exchange students from 6 different countries. In addition to her busy home life, she works as a physical therapist assistant and enjoys whitewater rafting, bicycling, motorcycling, photography and off-roading in her Jeep.

Her philosophy of life is:
Do not go where the path may lead,
Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.
